Welcome to the ancient cities of Patan and Bhaktapur, two colorful, historic just a few miles East of Kathmandu. The Patan Durbar Square and Bhaktapur Durbar Square are both UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

While the Buddhist and Hindu temple complexes are quite beautiful, anyone who ventures beyond to the surrounding cobbled streets will be rewarded with a privileged glimpse at workday life and the beautiful people who live there. Let’ go!

  1. I was there just last week and it was shocking to see the devastation, not just the buildings but more heartbreaking was the poster on the wall as you enter showing the faces of those who lost their lives. I wrote an article about the state of Bhaktapur on my blog: stuartleighton.wordpress.com
