Enjoy this photographic essay of my two week adventure in the vast treasure chest of natural wonders that is Patagonia. Vamos! (Let’s go!)
The flight into Punto Arenas makes you feel like you are going to the edge of the world… Monument to Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan… Several views of the Strait of Magellan… How can you not fall in love with the peaceful and adorable Magellanic Penguins at Otway Sound? A quick stop in Puerto Natales en route between Punta Arenas and Torres del Paine National Park… Crossing the border from Chile to Argentina. The Argentine Steppe is a uniquely spectacular and sparsely-populated expanse of windswept plains and big skies. Despite the arid climate, it is home to diversity of unique wildlife including pumas, condors, guanacos… and the Lesser Rhea, which is about half the size of an ostrich… Welcome to El Calfate, gateway to Los Glaciares National Park… Perito Moreno Glacier in Los Glaciares National Park… Approaching Mount Fitzroy on the way to El Chaltén…
One of my favorite corners of the planet. Looks like we covered much of the same ground. Thanks for the trip down memory lane and for the reminder to make it back there one day.
