China: Turpan

The Turpan Depression in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region in Western China is the third lowest point on the earth at 150 meters (~500 feet) below sea level.  The surrounding mountains and the low elevation make this one of the hottest and driest places on earth.

  1. Interesting and great imagery… I got to Xian but from Beijing so it’s good to see and hear others perspectives.. just blogged about the wall this morning myself. Thanks for sharing – A wandering memory
