The Easter Rising was an armed insurrection lead by Irish Republicans in April 1916 with the aim of establishing an Irish Republic independent of British colonial rule.
It noteworthy that Northern Ireland (Ulster County) remains part of the United Kingdom to this day. Fortunately, this day, all remained peaceful.
