Marrakech

If I could take you anywhere in the world for only one day, that place, hands down, would be Djemma El-Fna, the enormous and indescribably vibrant, pulsating square in Marrakech, Morocco…

After taking the “Marrakesh Express” from Tangier, grab a taxi, score some Dirhams, learn a few French and Arabic pleasantries, then roam the souk in search of a room…

And prepare yourself to enter a time warp where the Muslim call to prayer reverberates from the minarets five times a day (Starting at 4:30 am, no kidding!)

Let’s go!

A visit to the grand square is like going to the circus… a hundred ring circus… with food, dentists, jugglers, storytellers, dancers, musicians, and snake charmers… but with a twist: You are not merely at the circus; You are in the circus!

A fellowship of delicious sausages.

Argana Cafe Bombing

A stark reminder that we live in divided and dangerous world. The terrorist attack of the Argana Cafe happened less than two weeks after I left. (Although he never ate there, Frank walked right past this restaurant multiple times every day during his visit).
